At first sight this title may not have much to do with future events, but it has.
Making Music is a national umbrella organisation whose aim is to support amateur choirs and orchestras. It provides facilities such as help with establishing as a charitable organisation, insurance needed to safeguard premises where we perform, help with paying performing rights fees when we perform non copyrighted material in our concerts. Making Music hold two conferences a year, one usually in the London area and one in the north - last year it was held in Derby.
This is an opportunity to meet others with a keen interest similar to ourselves.
Making Music also supports an activity called 'Working with a Composer' where a choir or orchestra works with a composer to produce a piece of music which will be performed. As well as organising the links between composer and choir or orchestra they are able to provide a fee for the composer so that the choir is getting the benefit of this association free of charge.
Making Music distributes a quarterly magazine which will be displayed for members who may be interested to browse.
Finally and the reason for putting this piece here is that musical events from around the country are made known to member organisations through the distribution of flyers. All these events have Internet links so we propose to advertise these with a reference to the appropriate web site so it is important the Members's section is perused in case anyone would like to participate.
